My perpetual task as a painter is to observe nature through fresh eyes and to discover new, expressive ways to use color. Art translates my experiences into paint.
My experimentation with color follows no particular technique. Rather, I use color subjectively for the sake of self-expression. In landscape paintings, I want to depict nature, growth, and movement in true ways. I want my scene and portrait paintings to feel confessional, for the characters to tell a story.
I paint because my mind is filled with scrambled images and thoughts—my intense desire is to translate this cerebral content onto the controlled space of a canvas. I paint because painting is movement, it is time. I paint because the painting is stillness, is my eternity.
